Published in 2013, the coffee table book serves to showcase the miniature model-making and painting work of, The Sound of Machines Commission Painting. Given the artistic breadth of the subject matter, the design of the book aimed at giving readers a sense of surprise on each page turn. This was achieved by alternating layouts, including splash pages, and the use of digitally enchanced action shots of key miniatures.

In order to provide the best experience for displaying the miniatures, the book is a large format full-colour piece. Printed and bound by Blurb.
The Cog Motif
The title page cover pages spread shows how the cog, derived from The Sound of Machines logo, was used throughout as a device to frame and border images.
Action shots
Splashes of miniature photography, added some fun, cinematic, placing the miniatures in scenarios inline with the ... and the imagination of hobbyist of table-top wargaming.
Showing off the miniatures
The painting and modelling work was showcased against a black or white canvases, depening on which constrasted best against the painting.
Splash pages
The book was divided by projects—usually an entire Warhammer army. The sections were divided through the use of abstract splash pages, again leveraging the cog motif.

Luke, the founder of Sound of Machines Commission Painting, wrote introductions for each section, recalling the process and concept behind each army.
